This is a statement from the 206 Performing Troupe. We presented aThai version of Mr. Haruki Murakami’s novel entitled “Hear the Wind Sing”. The play was based on the Thai translation of Noppadol Wetsawas and shown ten times from July 4th to 12th, 2015 in the Thonglor Art Space, a small theater in Bangkok.
In regarding to the copyright of “Hear the Wind Sing,” the team of 206 Performing Troupe would like to give a sincere apology to Mr. Murakami and his representative in Thailand. Although the translator granted us a permission to use his Thai version for adaptation, we didn’t go through a proper process to obtain a permission from the author, Mr. Haruki Murakami, who owns the copyright of this novel. With all our respect for Mr. Murakami, our true intention was to share our interpretation of this remarkable novel in a performing art with Thai audiences to promote its wider appreciation. Once again, we sincerely regret our misjudgment.
Respectfully yours,
